Overview of approvals in HubSpot

Last updated: April 10, 2026

Approvals in HubSpot help teams review and authorize changes before actions are finalized. Depending on the tool, approvals can require designated users to review records, content, exports, quotes, or marketing assets before they move forward.

Using approvals ensures accountability, maintains compliance with internal processes, and reduces the risk of publishing or sharing incorrect information. For example, a sales manager can require approval before a deal moves to a closed stage, or a marketing manager can approve a marketing email before it’s sent to contacts.

Before you get started

  • Update your notifications, Slack, or Microsoft Teams for real-time approval notifications by turning on the Approval activity notification. Learn more about managing your Slack and Microsoft Teams notifications.

  • Each feature requires different subscriptions, seats, and permissions. Refer to the individual knowledge base article below for details.
