What does the 'use a contact property that stores an email address' option mean when sending internal emails with workflows?

The Use a contact property that stores an email address option will send an internal email to the email address that populates the property you choose. If you're a Marketing Professional or Enterprise user, you will see this option when adding the Send internal email action to your workflow.

  • For example: if you're integrated with Salesforce, a Salesforce lead owner's email address populates the Owner email property in HubSpot. If you select this property, only the lead owner of the contact in the workflow will receive the notification email.
  • If you are not integrated with Salesforce or also use HubSpot Sales, you can use the Contact owner property or create a custom property that gets filled in with an email address.
  • You can make these notification emails more powerful by including personalization tokens, which will pull in the information from the contact in the workflow.
