Why can't I save a new email address for my contact?

There are two reasons why you may receive an error when attempting to set or change the email address of one of your contacts:

  1. There is another contact using the same email address. In this case, you may want to merge the two records.
  2. There is another contact using the same email address which has since been merged into another record . The email address will appear as a Merged email address in the Email field on the contact record. To free the email address for use, hover over the Email field and click the pencil icon, then X to unmerge the address.
