Why can't I save a new email address for my contact?

If you are receiving an error when attempting to change the email address of one of your contacts, there are two likely explanations:

  1. There is another contact record whose Email property is currently set to the email address you're attempting to save. In this case, you may want to merge the two records together; you can find instructions on this process here.
  2. The email address you are trying to save is unavailable because it was the email address on a contact record that has since been merged into another record. The value will not appear as a current email for the other contact record, but rather will appear in the contact's property history. If this is the case, please use the Help button in the bottom right-hand corner of your account to contact HubSpot Support.
