How do I get rid of the spaces between table rows and columns in my email?

Last updated: December 13, 2016

In certain instances when applying a table in the body of an email, spaces may present themselves within the table's rows and columns. If you are looking to remove such spaces, you will need to access the source code of the content module under which the table is contained, and apply code. An example of when these spaces may be seen is when copying and pasting a table from an Excel document into HubSpot.

To access the source code of the email's rich text module or Main Email Body module:

  • Go to Content > Email, and select the email in question for editing
  • As exemplified below, click on the Source Code Icon. Doing so will enable you to see the module's content in a HTML format

Review the source code, specifically the code tied to the table, and ensure that your table's cellpadding and cellspacing attributes are set to "0". Please find below an example of how the code should read in regards to the attributes just mentioned.

Depending on the complexity of your table, more code may be required. However, from a general standpoint, setting these attributes to "0" will suffice. If you continue to experience spacing issues with your table, please contact HubSpot Support for further review.
