An email preferences or unsubscribe link is required for all marketing emails and can be added anywhere within the body of your email using a small snippet of code via the rich text editor, module options, or custom coded email template builder. By default, it is already in the CAN-SPAM module of your email template. Follow the steps below to add it anywhere within your template:

  • In your HubSpot Marketing account, navigate to Content > Email and select an email to edit.
  • Create a link by typing some text, highlighting it, and then clicking Insert Link.
  • Type in the token {{unsubscribe_link}} which will automatically generate the unsubscribe link for your contacts.

  • If you encounter an error message, click on the <> icon to view the HTML source.
  • Ensure the link reads <a href="{{unsubscribe_link}}">your unsubscribe text here</a>
Please note: the system may automatically change {{unsubscribe_link}} to {{contact.unsubscribe_link}}. In this case, you will need to remove 'contact.' in the HTML source.
