Why are contacts not being added to a smart list when they fit the criteria?

In order to ensure that a contact should be part of a smart list, first review the difference between AND and OR conditions for lists. If you are using AND conditions, make sure that your contact meets all of those requirements.

Once you have an understanding of the list's rule(s), you should go to the contact in question and review the record to ensure that the contact meets the criteria. 

  • Navigate to Contacts > All Contacts.
  • Search for the contact in question and click on the contact's name to access the contact record.
  • Review the contact's record to determine if the contact does in fact meet the criteria of your list. If the list's rule(s) revolves around contact property values, click View all properties. You can then search the properties to ensure that the contact has the required value for membership in the list.

If your contact does meet the smart list criteria and still has not joined the list, check to see if we are currently experiencing delays or contact HubSpot Support via the Help button at the bottom, right-hand corner of your HubSpot account.
