If you've received spam messages from a visitor, you can prevent the visitor from seeing the messages widget and sending additional messages from the chat window.
- In your HubSpot Sales account, navigate to Sales Tools > Messages.
- Click Launch chat.
- Locate and click on the chat you had with that particular visitor.
- In the panel on the right-hand side, click the Actions dropdown menu and select Block visitor.
- In the dialog box that appears, decide if you'd like to block the visitor based on browser cookie or based on browser cookie and IP address, which will block anyone else using the same network as well, then click Block visitor to confirm.
You will now see an alert in the chat with this visitor noting that they can no longer send messages. To unblock a visitor, click the Actions dropdown menu again and click Unblock visitor.
You can also view a list of all your blocked visitors by navigating to Sales Tools > Messages and clicking Settings in the top right corner. Then click Blocked Visitors in the left sidebar menu. To unblock a visitor in the list, hover over the visitor in the list and click Unblock.
