Why are my external pages showing multiple times in Page Performance?

Any externally hosted pages being tracked in the Page Performance tool are not automatically canonicalized by HubSpot. This means you may see separate listings for pages that have the same URL, but different parameters (everything that comes after the question mark symbol in a URL.)

Pages hosted on HubSpot are automatically canonicalized to prevent duplicate content warnings. Not all external hosts add the canonical tag. Without the canonical tag, the Page Performance tool cannot know if the parameters are important or not, so the URLs are not consolidated into one.

If you are seeing the same externally hosted page listed in Page Performance multiple times, work with your web developer to do the following:

  1. Add canonical tags to the head section of the HTML of relevant pages.
  2. Ensure it will not conflict with any other features of your website.
