Why are my external pages appearing multiple times in the pages report?

Externally-hosted pages that are being tracked in the pages report (Reports Analytics Tools Traffic Analytics Pages) are not automatically canonicalized by HubSpot. This means that you may see separate listings for pages that have the same URL, but different query string parameters (everything that comes after the question mark symbol in the URL).

Pages hosted on HubSpot are automatically canonicalized to prevent duplicate content warnings. However, not all external hosts add the canonical tag. Without it, HubSpot cannot determine if the parameters are important or not, so the URLs are not consolidated into one within the pages report.

If you are seeing the same externally-hosted page listed multiple times, work with your web developer to add a canonical tag to the head section of the HTML of your page and ensure that it does not conflict with any other features of your website.
