Workflow actions execute later than expected

If there are many objects executing actions in your active workflows at the same time, a delay in workflow actions is likely due to execution throttling and is dependent on these factors:

  • The number of objects executing actions
  • The types of actions being executed

Throttling ensure that workflows run efficiently. When the execution of actions are throttled, actions will be queued after the scheduled time. With more objects, the queue grows longer and the time difference between when the action was scheduled and executed will be more noticeable.

If you note that the total number of objects in your active workflows is not high, but action execution is delayed for more than a few minutes, this could be due to other factors such as your workflow settings.
