While you venture through the world of contacts in HubSpot, there may be some questions that come up along the way. We hope this FAQ can help provide some answers here to address the specific questions that may have come up for you while navigating through your HubSpot contact database.

Can I set the lifecycle stage of a contact backwards?

Yes, you can, but keep in mind that the lifecycle stage property is not really designed to go backwards. The reason for this is because you generally want to move your contacts down the marketing funnel and once they hit one lifecycle stage, they can't really go backwards within that role: a customer will always be a customer. Why is my contact import failing or returning an error?

In order to successfully import contacts from an external file into HubSpot, there are a couple requirements for this to be successful. For example, your external file must be a .CSV file and you must include an email address for each contact.
