Last updated: July 4, 2025

Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:

Service Hub   Professional , Enterprise

Migrate your existing HubSpot knowledge base to use the new knowledge base editor. This will give you access to more features, including more styling options, custom header and footer HTML, and additional supported languages.

Please note: all knowledge bases not migrated by late October 2025 will be automatically switched over to the new tools at that time.

Before you get started

When migrating your knowledge base, please note the following:

  • To migrate a knowledge base, you must be a super admin.
  • Until you publish your new knowledge base, you will not see an active feedback survey on your new knowledge base. Once you publish the new knowledge base, the feedback form will be live.
  • The new tools have a limit of 100 tags per article. You should remove additional tags from any articles with more than 100 tags before migration.
  • It is recommended to upload all images used across your knowledge base to the files tool in HubSpot. If the images are not in the files tool, they may not be migrated.
  • All articles, regardless of their current status (e.g., published, unpublished, draft), will be migrated. If there are any updates to an article that have not been published, they should be published before the migration takes place.

Migrate your knowledge base

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to Service > Knowledge Base.

  2. If you have multiple knowledge bases, click the Knowledge base dropdown menu and select a knowledge base. An Update available tag will appear next to any knowledge bases that need to be migrated.

  1. In the top banner, click Migrate now

  1. In the dialog box, review the differences between the new and existing knowledge base types, then click Update now
  2. Once the migration starts, the following will occur:
    • A copy of the knowledge base will be created using the new platform.
    • Each article will be moved to a temporary URL, with /migrated/ at the end of the original link. These links will be live but not accessible to visitors from your knowledge base.
    • The original version of the knowledge base will become read-only but remain live until the new version is published.
Once the migration has completed, review the new knowledge base and make any necessary changes using the new tools

Publish your new knowledge base

To use your knowledge base after migrating, you'll need to publish it. Once your knowledge base is published:
  • You can no longer publish articles to your original knowledge base.
  • You'll retain access to the original knowledge base for 30 days, after which it'll be permanently deleted.
  • For each migrated article that is published, its original article will stay published for 30 days. The original article's URL slug will be changed to /migrated. You can also archive and unpublish the original article.
  • All migrated articles will be published on their original URLs.

To publish your new knowledge base:

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to Service > Knowledge Base.
  2. If you have multiple knowledge bases, click the Knowledge base dropdown menu and select the new knowledge base.
  3. At the top of the page, click Publish in the banner.
  4. In the dialog box, review the consequences of publishing your updated knowledge base, then click Publish.
