Last updated: October 13, 2020
Applies to:
All products and plans |
You can delete a list without deleting its contacts, delete all contacts in a list, or delete individual contacts.
Please note: this deletion described in the article is not GDPR-compliant. Learn how to perform a GDPR-compliant delete in HubSpot.
Data lost in deletion
Before deleting HubSpot contacts, consider the data that will be lost or affected.
- The interaction data and timeline activity in the contact records will be deleted, including:
- Form submission data
- Website visit information
- List membership data (e.g., information of them being part of static lists)
- Data from integrations (e.g., Salesforce, Wistia, GoToWebinar, SurveyMonkey)
- Lifecycle stage transition data
- Information about custom event completion (Marketing Hub Enterprise only)
Please note: only the contact's timeline activity will be deleted. If the contact has an associated company, deal, or ticket, the associated object's timeline activity (e.g., calls and emails) will not be affected as they are explicitly associated with that object.
- The data in existing reports will be affected, including but not limited to the following ways:
- Deleted contacts will be removed from counts in the reports.
- Visits from deleted contacts will appear in the sources report, but removed from the count of contacts.
- Deleted contacts generated by a campaign will no longer appear in the campaign dashboard.
- Deleted contacts will remain in the form submissions and landing page submissions reports, but will appear as No Contact.
Please note: when deleting a contact, data in reports on engagements, such as calls, meetings, and tasks, will not be lost. Such reports (e.g., Productivity) will still count engagements in deleted contacts.
- The lifecycle stage of the contact's associated company may be reset or recalculated, based on the associated company's association to other contacts and deals.
