Assign the Partner Seat to partner employees

The Partner Seat is a free seat that gives eligible HubSpot Solutions Partner and Provider employees potential access to all features in a client's HubSpot account. Once you've assigned a partner to a Partner Seat, you can set their permissions that client account. 

This article covers working with the basic Partner Seat available to all partners. For more comprehensive permissions, learn about Partner Admin access

Permissions required Partner permissions and seats can only be edited by users with either Super Admin permissions or both Add and edit users and Modify billing permissions.

Understand requirements

To be assigned to a Partner Seat, users must:
  • Be eligible Solutions Partner or Provider employees.
  • Have a partner employee email domain. 
  • Have a HubSpot Partner account.

Add a new user with a Partner Seat

To create a new user in the client's account with a Partner Seat:

  1. In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the top navigation bar.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Users & Teams.
  3. In the top right, click the Add users dropdown menu and select Create new
  4. In the Email address field, enter the email address of the partner, then click Next
  5. If the user is also a user in an existing Solutions Partner account and has an approved email partner domain, click the Seat assignment dropdown menu and select Partner Seat.
  6. If the user does not have an existing partner account and approved email partner domain, click the Seat assignment dropdown menu and select Core Seat or View-Only Seat
  7. Click to expand the Choose how to set access section and select Start with a template
  8. Click to expand the Choose a template section, then click the Choose a template dropdown menu and select a current user with the permissions you want. 
  9. In the bottom right, click Next
  10. Review the user's information, then click Send in the bottom right. This will send the user an email invite to join this account. 

Change a user's seat to a Partner Seat

If you mistakenly added a user to a Core or View-Only Seat and you want to change it to a Partner Seat, there are two ways to do so: in the partner account or in the client's account.

Change to the Partner Seat in the partner's account

The user is automatically granted eligibility and access to a Partner Seat when a Partner Admin makes any permission changes on a user in the Partner account. 

Change to the Partner Seat in the client's account

  1. In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the top navigation bar.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Users & Teams.
  3. Click the Seats tab. 
  4. Hover over a user and click Change seat
  5. In the right panel, click the Seat dropdown menu and select Partner Seat
  6. In the bottom right, click Save
