How to add personas with forms

Last updated: April 4, 2018

You can assign personas to your contacts using forms, which means that contacts can choose the persona with which they most strongly identify right when they fill out a HubSpot form. Read the following instructions to learn how to add personas using a form.

Create or select a form

In your HubSpot Marketing Hub Basic, Professional, or Enterprise account, navigate to Contacts > Forms. In your HubSpot CRM or Marketing Hub Starter account, navigate to Lead Capture Forms. Click the name of an existing form or create a new form.

Add the persona field

From the Add form field sidebar menu, click and drag the Persona field into your form.

Edit field options

Hover over the Persona field and click Edit.

In the Configuration for 'hs_persona' field sidebar menu, locate the Label field. This is what people will see for the persona property when they fill out the form. You can make the label a question, such as How would you describe yourself? or What is your role?

You can also enter text in the Help Text field to add additional explanation for your visitors. The name of the property is hs_persona, which is the property that HubSpot automatically creates. This way, you can differentiate between the default HubSpot property and other persona properties that you create.

Next, take a look at your property options. These are the options that will appear on the form. To remove one, hover over it and click Remove. To add more choices to the form, create another persona. Clicking the Edit property options link will direct you back to Property Settings, where you can add a new persona.

When you have finished editing the persona field, click Save.

Save your form

Click Save to save your changes and then Publish to apply the changes to your form.
