Manage your records in Slack

Once you’ve connected Slack to your HubSpot account, you can view, create, and update HubSpot records from Slack.
View, create, and update HubSpot records from Slack
You can create a HubSpot task, ticket, or note from a Slack message, or update a current record in your HubSpot account.
View, create, and update tasks, tickets, or notes
It's recommended to create tasks, tickets, and notes in public channels or in private channels that the HubSpot app is invited to.
- In Slack, hover over a message and click theverticalMenuthree vertical dots icon, then select Create a task, Create a ticket, or Create a note.

- In the dialog box, enter the required fields for your task, ticket, or note. When you're done, click Save.
- If you have multiple HubSpot accounts connected to your Slack workspace, a prompt will appear in Slack to select the HubSpot account for the action. Click Choose under the Account name. Or, if you have more than four HubSpot accounts, click the Choose account dropdown menu and select a HubSpot account.
- The task, ticket, or note will be created automatically in HubSpot. The HubSpot app will post a confirmation message in the channel that only you can see.
- To view the task, ticket, or note in HubSpot, click the name of the task, ticket, or note in the message.
- Within the message, you can:

- Click Add association to associate a contact or company with the task or ticket.
Please note: the Add association action in Slack is not supported for deals. When working with deals in Slack, you'll see the Update deal stage action instead, which you can use to move a deal through stages.

- Click Post to channel or Post to thread to post the task or ticket message to the Slack channel or thread.
- Click Add note to write a note on the task or ticket timeline.
- After posting a ticket to the channel or thread, click the Update ticket status dropdown menu to change the ticket status.
- Any attachments or links in the message will also sync to the task, ticket, or note.
Please note: the Create a ticket action supports a maximum of 10 fields (required or not) that can be added. The following property field types are not compatible with the Create a ticket action: HubSpot user, Multiple checkbox and Calculation. If you have more than 10 fields in your ticket, create a new ticket from the tickets index page.
View and create contacts, companies, and deals
- In your Slack channel, click the Run Shortcut icon in the reply text box.
- Click Create a company, Create a contact, or Create a deal.
- In the dialog box, enter the required fields for your contact, company, or deal. When you’re done, click Save.
- The contact, company, or deal will automatically be created in HubSpot, and the HubSpot app will post a message in the channel that's only visible to you.
- To view the record in HubSpot, click the name of the record in the message.
Link previews in Slack for HubSpot records
When you share a link in Slack to a supported HubSpot object, you'll see structured previews in Slack, also known as unfurls. These unfurls provide a preview of the record's key HubSpot details.
The following HubSpot objects are supported by unfurls in Slack:
- Contacts
- Companies
- Deals
- Tickets
- Marketing emails
- Blog posts
- Reports
- Dashboards
- Click the unfurl to view the full details of the record.
- On the Details tab, view the key HubSpot details for the HubSpot record.
- Click the Conversations tab to view associated conversation threads.

Customize HubSpot link previews in Slack
When you share a HubSpot CRM record link in Slack, you can customize which properties appear in the preview so users see the most relevant information directly in Slack.
If you're a Super Admin, opt your account into the Slack App: Customize HubSpot Link Previews beta.
Permissions required You must have Super Admin or App Marketplace permissions in your HubSpot account to customize link previews.
Customize link preview properties
- In your HubSpot account, click the
settings icon in the top navigation bar. - In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Integrations > Connected Apps.
- Click Slack.
- Navigate to the Settings tab.
- In the left sidebar menu, click Link Unfurling.

- To customize the properties displayed on the unfurling card:
- For each CRM object, click the Configure properties for unfurling card dropdown menu, then select the properties to display. You must select at at least three properties and up to six properties.
- To customize the properties displayed on the unfurling card:

- Click Save.
- To turn unfurling on or off for an object:
- Click the unfurling switch on or off.

How link previews behave in Slack
After configuring your settings:
- When a HubSpot record link is shared in a Slack channel, the preview will display the selected properties.
- The same preview settings apply to all users in the HubSpot account.
- Users can view record details directly in Slack without opening the record in HubSpot.
For example, when sharing a deal link, the preview can include the deal amount, stage, and owner.
Please note: only properties selected in your settings will appear in Slack link previews. If a property is not selected, it will not be displayed when a link is shared.
Search for and share your records in Slack with shortcuts and slash commands
You can use slash commands in Slack, or the HubSpot Search shortcut in Slack to search for any records in your HubSpot account.
Use the HubSpot Search shortcut
To use the HubSpot Search shortcut:
- In your Slack channel, click the Run Shortcut icon in the reply text box.
- Click Search. If your Slack workspace is connected to multiple HubSpot accounts, you'll see a message to select the HubSpot account to search.
- In the pop-up window, click the HubSpot Record Type dropdown menu and select the record type you want to search for. You can search for contacts, companies, deals, tickets, or tasks.
- Input the criteria you want to search by and select the channel to display the search results in.
- Click Search.
- The HubSpot app will return the first three results for your search term, which will include basic information about the contact, company, deal, ticket or task. All results are only visible to your Slack user.
- Click the record to view it in HubSpot.
- Click Add association to associate other records with the record.
Please note: the Add association action in Slack is not supported for deals. When working with deals in Slack, you'll see the Update deal stage action instead, which you can use to move a deal through stages.
- Click Add note to add a note to the record.
- Click Post to channel to share the contact with the channel.
Use slash commands to search for a record
Using slash commands in Slack, you can search for and share a HubSpot contact, company, deal, knowledge base article, playbook, task, or ticket in a Slack channel or direct message.
If you have multiple HubSpot accounts connected to your Slack workspace, a prompt will appear in Slack to select the HubSpot account for the slash command. Click Choose under the Account name. Or, if you have more than four HubSpot accounts, click the Choose account dropdown menu to select a HubSpot account.
- In your channel, click into the reply text box and enter:

- Contact:
- /hs-search-contact {contact name} searches for all contacts matching the search term.
- Contact:

- Company:
- /hs-search-company {company name} searches for all companies matching the search term.
- /hs-report-company posts key KPIs including number of associated contacts, number of associated deals with deal stage, number of website visits, and number of page views.
- /hs-buying-committee posts the buying committee information for a company record to your channel.
- Company:

- Deal:
- /hs-search-deal {deal name} searches for all deals matching the search term.
- /hs-search-my-deal {deal name} searches for deals assigned to the user matching the search term,
- With deals, you can update the deal stage from Slack. Click Update deal stage and select a deal stage in the dropdown menu.
- Deal:

- Knowledge base article: /hs-search-kb {article title}
Please note: knowledge base articles that require member registration will not appear in Slack's search results.

- Playbook: /hs-search-playbook {playbook title}
- Task: /hs-search-task {task title}
- Ticket: /hs-search-ticket {ticket title}
- The HubSpot app will return the first three results for your search term, which will include basic information about the contact, company, deal, knowledge base article, playbook, task, or ticket. All results are only visible to your Slack user.
- To share a contact, company, deal, knowledge base article, playbook, task, or ticket with your channel, click Post [object] to channel.

Please note: the /hs-search slash commands will only work in public channels or private channels that the HubSpot app was invited to. The commands will show no response in direct messages and group messages, or private channels where the HubSpot app wasn't invited.
