Learn how to split any list into multiple static lists based on a selected percentage of contacts. This gives you the ability to a segment of a cohort to experiment with.
To split a list
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to CRM > Lists.
- Click Actions > Split List.
- To distribute contacts equally across lists, click to switch the toggle on. If your main list won't split evenly, leftover contacts will be equally distributed across your splits.
- To create custom splits:
- Enter a name for the new list.
- Enter the desired percentage of contacts for each list. The number of contacts will automatically populate so you are aware of the count breakdown.
- To add a split, click Add split. You can create up to 10 child lists.
- Click Create Lists.
- A success pop-up will appear with a link to the new lists. Click each list to access it, or click Got it to close the popup.

To track how many split lists have been made from a list, click the source list and click Details.
