Split a segment to create multiple static segments with a percentage of the segment's records. You can use split segment to test subsets of a segment. For example, you can split a segment of contacts that receive marketing materials and use the split segments to test different marketing campaigns.
To get individual samples of a segment with a certain number or percentage of records, you can create a random sample instead.
Permissions required Edit Segment permissions are required to create segment splits.
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to CRM > Segments.
- Click the name of the segment of which to create a sample.
- In the top right, click Actions, then select Split segment.
- To distribute records equally across segments, toggle the switch on. If your source segment won't split evenly, leftover records will be equally distributed across your splits.
- To create custom splits:
- Enter a name for the new segment.
- Enter the desired percentage of records for each segment. The number of records will automatically populate so you can view the count breakdown.
- To add another split, click Add split. You can create up to 10 splits.
- Click Create segments.
- A pop-up will appear to confirm the new static segments were created. To navigate to a new segment, click the segment name. To close the pop-up and return to the source segment, click Got it.
To track how many splits have been created from a segment, you can review the source segment's details. Learn more about editing or using segments.
