Last updated: August 4, 2026

Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:

Use the Recommendations tab in AEO to identify and act on the content opportunities that may improve how often your brand is cited in answer engines.

Recommendations are generated from citation patterns across your tracked prompts, showing which content types and channels answer engines consistently reference for your topics.

After reviewing your recommendations, generate blog posts from identified gaps. Once completed, AEO tracks changes in brand mentions, visibility scores, and citation patterns over time so you can evaluate impact.

Please note: you can manage AI feature access in your AI settings and configure what data is shared. Review HubSpot's AI Trust FAQs and AI Model Cards for detailed information on AI security controls, data use, and compliance.

Understand limitations & considerations

  • To align SEO efforts with AI-driven visibility, review how to set up an analyze AEO and optimize content and improve brand visibility for AI.
  • Answer engine responses change over time, so improvements may not appear immediately. Review results across multiple analysis cycles to evaluate impact.
  • Completed recommendations remain associated with the prompts they affect.

Understand how recommendations are generated

For each tracked prompt, AEO analyzes answer engine responses and extracts all cited sources. It then identifies patterns across those citations to determine the content and structural signals most commonly linked to a citation.

Pattern analysis includes:

  • Frequently cited domains

  • Common content formats (e.g., blog posts)

  • Recurring themes and keywords

  • Competitor presence

Recommendations are generated directly from these observed patterns and reflect what answer engines consistently reference for your tracked prompts. Each recommendation includes a content type, channel, and priority indicator.

The following content and channel types may appear in recommendations:

  • Top lists: listicle-style articles that rank or compile products and services.
  • Comparison: articles that evaluate two or more products side-by-side.
  • Product: pages that describe a specific product or service.
  • Blog: blog posts or news-style articles published by a brand or publication.
  • Documentation: technical documentation, help articles, or product guides.
  • Wiki: informational pages within a knowledge base or glossary.
  • News: articles published by journalists or editorial outlets.
  • PR: press releases issued by companies.
  • Research: research reports, studies, or data analysis.
  • User reviews: reviews published by users on third-party platforms (e.g., G2 or Trustpilot).
  • Social: posts published on social media platforms.

  • Owned: content published on your own website.
  • Competitor: content from competitor domains configured in your AEO settings.
  • Earned: coverage from third-party sites, such as news outlets or industry blogs.
  • Peer: content from companies in your industry that aren't tracked as competitors (e.g., adjacent tools or services).
  • User-generated content (UGC): content created by individual users on platforms such as Reddit.
  • Affiliate: content published on sites that feature sponsored or paid placements.
  • Social: content published on social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn).

Understand how content agent generates a blog post

After you click Generate blog post, the agent processes your request in several phases. Generation may take a few minutes, and you’ll receive an in-app notification and email when the draft is ready.

  • Research: the agent gathers the following inputs to generate the draft.

    • Brand voice, ideal customer profiles (ICPs), and product details from your brand identity data.
    • Existing blog post titles to prevent duplicate topics.
    • AEO recommendation history to build on previously accepted recommendations while excluding dismissed recommendations.
    • Keyword volume and difficulty data.
    • Web pages that reference your brand, identified through web search.
    • Competitor positioning and audience profiles, identified through web search.
    • The selected recommendation’s topic, format, audience, and goals.
  • Generate: the agent drafts the blog post.

    • Defines the article structure and format (e.g., listicle, comparison, how-to, or guide).
    • Generates the title, body content, and meta description.
    • Incorporates keywords, answer-first sections, FAQ coverage, and relevant brand references.
  • Refine: the agent improves the draft in two steps.

    • Aligns the content’s tone, vocabulary, and sentence structure with your brand voice.
    • Adds and verifies relevant internal and external links, excluding competitor domains.
  • Validate: the agent evaluates the draft before delivery.

    • Scores content using a quality rubric.
    • Confirms formatting and content requirements, such as title length, meta description length, link requirements, and formatting consistency.
    • Reviews audience targeting, brand integration, and use of verifiable sources.

If the blog post draft doesn’t meet the quality threshold, content agent may refine and validate the draft up to two times before delivery.
