Marketing Hub   Professional , Enterprise

When creating a new campaign, a unique campaign UTM will be automatically generated. This value can be reviewed from the campaign details page and will be used when reporting on campaign data for both overall campaign analytics and individual campaign performance. Any website traffic with the campaign UTM value will be attributed to the campaign.

Understand campaign UTM values

When a new campaign is created, even if it has the same campaign name as another existing campaign, the campaign UTM value will still be automatically generated with a unique identifier. If you want to use a custom value for your Campaign UTM property, you can add a new default value.

Any previous values will remain as secondary values to retain your reporting data. You can also delete any secondary Campaign UTM property values that you do not want to use anymore.

Edit your campaign UTM value

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
  2. In the table, click the campaign you want to update.
  3. In the left panel, hover over and click the Campaign UTM field.
  4. Then, enter your new campaign UTM value in-line.

  1. In the bottom left, click Save
    • If there is another existing campaign with the same Campaign UTM value, an error message will appear and the field will not be updated: There was a problem updating this UTM campaign. This Campaign UTM value already exists in [campaign name].
    • After the Campaign UTM is updated, the previous value will remain as a secondary value.

Review and delete campaign UTM values

Before deleting your campaign UTM values, please note the following:

  • When reviewing your campaign UTM values, you can only delete secondary campaign UTM values.
  • It is required for the campaign to have a default campaign UTM value.
  • After deleting a campaign value, it will be permanently removed from your account, and any traffic from this value will not be reported.

To delete a campaign UTM value:

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
  2. Click the campaign you want to update.
  3. In the left panel, hover over the Campaign UTM field. Then, click Details
  4. In the left panel, review the campaign's UTM values.
    • The default value will appear at the top with a Default tag. This value cannot be deleted.
    • To delete the default value, add a new Campaign UTM value. This will become the new default value. Then, you can delete the previous Campaign UTM value, which will now be a secondary value.
  5. Hover over the value that you want to delete and click Delete. In the dialog box, click Delete.
