There are a few limitations to sending marketing email with an email address from a free email provider, such as Gmail:

  • You can't connect an email sending domain for this free email address, since you don't own the sending domain.
  • Free email providers have a DMARC policy that creates deliverability problems for emails sent in bulk. This policy is intended to prevent spam, but it can also impact legitimate email marketing campaigns.

Please note: it's easy to send marketing emails from some free email providers in HubSpot, but you'll see best results using a domain you manage that's connected in your domain manager.

How it works

Enter a free email address from Gmail, Yahoo, or AOL into the From address field in your email details. When the email is sent, HubSpot updates the sending email address by adding one of the following domains:

  • hubspotemail.net (Basic (Legacy), Professional, or Enterprise accounts)
  • hubspotstarter.net (Starter accounts)
  • hubspotfree.net (Free accounts)

All marketing email replies still get delivered to your free email address.

Example

For example, the From address example@gmail.com would be delivered as one of the following:

  • example.gmail.com@hubspotemail.net
  • example.gmail.com@hubspotstarter.net
  • example.gmail.com@hubspotfree.net

All replies would be delivered to: example@gmail.com.
