HubSpot Sales for Outlook install error: 'Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor.'

When attempting to install HubSpot Sales, you may encounter an "Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor" error message. 

To resolve this error:

  • Uninstall the HubSpot Sales plugin following the instructions here.
  • Open the Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and end the SidekickTrayWPF.exe process.
  • Navigate to Control Panel > Programs and Features and click to uninstall the Sidekick For Windows application.
  • Go to, download the tray app, and run the file to reinstall.
