Customize a global module for a single template

Customize a global module for a single template without affecting other templates that use the same module. This is useful when most templates should stay consistent, but one template requires a unique variation.
Before you get started
Before you get started, review the following requirements and limitations before making changes to a global module.
Understand requirements

The template must be a drag and drop template.
- Changes must be made in the layout editor within the design manager.
Permissions required Design tools permission is required to customize global modules.
Understand limitations & considerations

Local copies can be created only for individual global modules, not global groups. Learn more about using global content across templates.
- Changes made to a local copy apply only to the selected template after publishing.
- Other templates that use the original global module aren't affected.
Create a local copy of a global module
By default, edits to a global module apply everywhere the module is used. Creating a local copy lets a single template override that shared behavior.
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Content > Design Manager.
- In the finder, click the name of a template.
- Click the global module to make changes to on this template.
- In the inspector, click the More dropdown menu and select Make a local copy.
- In the dialog box, click Create copy. This creates a copy of your module so you can make changes that only appear in the template you're editing.
- Continue to customize the module.
- When finished, click Publish changes to take your changes live.
