Before you get started

Before you get started, review the following requirements and limitations before making changes to a global module.

Understand requirements

Permissions required Design tools permission is required to customize global modules.

Understand limitations & considerations

  • Local copies can be created only for individual global modules, not global groups. Learn more about using global content across templates.

  • Changes made to a local copy apply only to the selected template after publishing.
  • Other templates that use the original global module aren't affected.

Create a local copy of a global module

By default, edits to a global module apply everywhere the module is used. Creating a local copy lets a single template override that shared behavior.

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to Content > Design Manager.
  2. In the finder, click the name of a template.
  3. Click the global module to make changes to on this template.
  4. In the inspector, click the More dropdown menu and select Make a local copy

  1. In the dialog box, click Create copy. This creates a copy of your module so you can make changes that only appear in the template you're editing.
  2. Continue to customize the module.
  3. When finished, click Publish changes to take your changes live.
