As privacy laws and regulations evolve worldwide, you may need to take additional measures to ensure your website complies with them. HubSpot has tools to help you comply with these laws and regulations.
Please note: while HubSpot has cookie tracking and consent banner settings, your legal team is the best resource to give you compliance advice for your specific business circumstances.
Understand cookie management
Cookies are small data files that can be used to identify your website visitors and track their behavior. There are worldwide laws and regulations that protect the privacy of website visitors because cookies are associated with personal data.
In HubSpot, you can create a cookie consent banner to help protect visitor privacy. A consent banner manages how cookies load on your website. It can be configured to prevent unessential cookies from loading on visitors’ browsers until they confirm their consent to be tracked.
Review cookies loaded by a website
Various tools and plugins can help you review cookies that are loaded on your website. To access this information you can follow the instructions for your browser. For example, in Google Chrome, you can:
- Open a new incognito browser window.
- Navigate to your website.
- Right click and select Inspect from the menu.
- In the sidebar menu, click the Applications tab.
- In the left menu, navigate to the Storage > Cookies.
- Select the website you are visiting.
Please note: when reviewing your website’s cookies, always use a new incognito browser window. Otherwise, you may notice unrelated cookies that come from your own browser’s plugins and not your website.
