How to discover your company's optimal publishing times
Follow these steps to learn how to use HubSpot's social media tool to research the optimal times to schedule your messages, and then set up your custom publishing schedule to use those prime times.
Go to social publishing
In your HubSpot Marketing Basic, Professional, or Enterprise account, navigate to Social > Publishing.
Filter by published messages across all networks and campaigns
First, you'll need to research the best times to schedule your messages. Leave the network filter and campaign filter on All accounts.
Sort your messages by clicks
Select the Clicks column header at the top of the messages data table to see how many clicks each post received.
Record the time of day on which your messages were published
Look at the Time column of the social media messages table to see the date and the time of day that each message was published on. Write down the publishing times of the 10 most frequently clicked messages so that you can determine what time of day works best for you.
Browse for the messages with the most interactions
While you're still sorting through your clicks, scroll through your messages to find the ones that your network found most engaging. This would include messages that have a lot of replies, likes, comments, or were marked as a favorite. Write down the publishing times of the 10 messages that have the highest level of interactions and clicks.
Go to publishing schedule
Next, you'll need to set up a publishing schedule. In your HubSpot account, click your photo or avatar in the top right-hand corner, then click Settings. On the left, select Marketing > Social and then click the Publishing tab.
Add your preferred custom time to the schedule
Using the publishing times that you wrote down in the previous steps, enter a time that you have had success with in the past.
Hover over a day you'd like to add a publishing time to and click Add time. Use the dialog box to select a time and any additional days of the week you'd like this time to apply to. Click Apply.
You'll then see your selected times and days appear on the chart. You can delete a time by hovering over that time and clicking the trash can icon.
You also have the option to vary your publishing times so that messages are published within 10 minutes (before or after) of the scheduled time. To do this, toggle the switch within the Publish like a human section below the publishing schedule.
Verify your time zone settings
Next, ensure your account time zone settings are set up correctly, as this determines when your social media messages are scheduled and published. In your HubSpot account, click your photo or avatar in the top right-hand corner, then click Settings.
Verify that the time zone selected from the Time zone dropdown menu is correct so that your publishing schedule is localized to your business hours.
If you need to change the time zone, click Save at the bottom to take your changes live.
