With a click-to-call button, website visitors on a mobile device can call your business with a single click. With a mailto link, visitors can compose a new email in their default program with a specific recipient, subject line, or email body. You can add these types of links to a call-to-action (CTA) or rich text module in your HubSpot content.

Create a click-to-call link

To add a click-to-call link, you'll format your link with tel: pointing to your phone number, instead of https:// pointing to your website. You don't need to select the Open link in new window checkbox, since this type of link will open the visitor's default calling program on their device.

Please note: there can't be any spaces or dashes in the click-to-call link.

Add a click-to-call link to your website, blog, or email

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to your landing pages, website pages, blog, or email.
  • Highlight the text or image you want to use for your click-to-call link.
  • Click the link icon link in the rich text toolbar.
  • Enter tel:5555555555 in the Link URL field, replacing 5555555555 with the phone number for your business.

Add a click-to-call link to a CTA

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Lead Capture > CTAs.

  • Click Create CTA.
  • After choosing your CTA design, click Next to configure your CTA options.

  • Use the URL redirect type dropdown menu to select External website URL.

  • Enter tel:5555555555 in the Enter URL field, replacing 5555555555 with the phone number for your business.

Create a mailto link

To add a mailto link, you'll format your link with mailto: pointing to your email address, instead of http:// pointing to your website. You don't need to select the Open link in new window checkbox, since this type of link will open the visitor's default email program on their device.

Please note: there can't be any spaces in the mailto link. You'll need to place %20 in place of each space.

Add a mailto link to your website, blog, or email

  • Enter mailto:example@email.com, replacing example@email.com with the email address for the To field of the email.
    • To add a CC or BCC address, append ?cc=example@email.com or ?bcc=example@email.com (e.g., mailto:example@email.com?cc=example@email.com).
    • To add a subject line to this email, append the following to the email address: ?subject=Email%20Subject (e.g., mailto:example@email.com?subject=Email%20Subject ).
    • If you're appending more than one field to the mailto link, each additional field is added with an "&(e.g., mailto:recipient@domain.com?subject=Email%20Subject&body=Body%20Text ).

Add a mailto link to a CTA

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Lead Capture > CTAs.

  • Click Create CTA.
  • After customizing your CTA design, click Next to configure your CTA options.

  • Use the URL redirect type dropdown menu to select External website URL.

  • Enter mailto:example@email.com in the Enter URL field, replacing example@email.com with the email address for the To field of the email.
