View personalized marketing emails on contact records

If you send a marketing emails using smart content, personalization tokens, or programmable modules, you can view the version of the email sent to a specific contact on their contact record. This can help you answer any questions the recipient has about the content of the email.

Understand limitations and considerations

  • Emails without personalized content will not display the option to view the sent email. 
  • You can view the specific email a contact was sent for 30 days after the send date.

  • If you need to retain copies of emails sent beyond 30 days for compliance purposes, it's recommended to set up compliance copy emails instead. 

View a personalized email

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to CRM > Contacts.
  2. Click the name of the contact who was sent the email. 
  3. At the top of the contact record, click the Activities tab. 
  4. Click the Filter activity dropdown menu and select the checkbox next to Marketing emails. You may wish to clear the checkboxes next to other activities. 
  5. On the activity for the personalized marketing email, click View sent email
