Why does Marketing Grader show an error when trying to grade my website?

Marketing Grader may not be able to grade your website if you have certain redirects or blocks in place.

  • Marketing Grader cannot grade websites with 302 redirects or Javascript redirects.
    • 302 redirects are considered a 'temporary' redirect and should not be used for permanent redirects.
    • Marketing Grader should not have any issues grading websites that contain 301 redirects.
    • If a Javascript redirect is being utilized Marketing Grader will fail to grade or update.
  • Marketing Grader cannot grade websites with extremely slow load times.
    • Check the load time of your website using a free website speed test.
    • Contact your Webmaster or IT team if you are experiencing slow load time for your website.
  • Marketing Grader cannot grade websites that are blocking crawlers via a robots.txt file.
    • To check your robots.txt file, type your homepage URL into your browser and add"/robots.txt" to the end. Ex. "http://www.company.com/robots.txt"
      • If you see, (below) then you are blocking crawlers:
      • User-agent: *
        Disallow: /
  • Marketing Grader cannot grade websites that are built using JavaScript or Flash.
    • It can only crawl pages that are built using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).
