View and compare segment versions

Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:

Review your segment's history to understand key interactions or changes made to a segment. For filter history, you can compare the current and past versions of a segment to then restore or copy an earlier version.

What the segment audit log tracks

Actions that are tracked in the segment audit log include:

  • When a segment was created, edited, deleted, or restored.
  • When a segment's filters were changed.
  • When a segment was used in another tool, such as a workflow.
  • When a segment notification was triggered.
  • When a segment's type was changed (e.g., from active to static).
  • When a segment's settings were changed. For example, updates to permissions, team assignment, and exclusions.

View activity and compare segment versions in the audit log

To view and use the segments audit log:

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to CRM > Segments.
  2. Click the name of a segment.
  3. Navigate to the Activity tab.
  4. To filter for a specific event, click the Event dropdown menu and select the event type. For example, to view changes to the segment's filters, select Filters edited.
  5. To filter for an older version of a segment, click the Version dropdown menu and select a version.
  6. To filter for a specific user who modified the segment, click the Modified by dropdown menu and select the user
  7. To compare the current version to previous versions, click View version history in the top right.
    • In the left panel, the current filters are displayed. To create a new segment with the same filters, click Clone as new segment.
    • To compare the current filters to a previous version, click the Select a version dropdown menu and select the segment version to which you want to compare. 
       
  8. To compare a previous version with other versions, hover over the version and click View version history in that row. 
    • In the left panel, the version's filters are displayed. To create a new segment with the same filters, click Clone as new segment.
    • To restore that version's filters, click Restore these filters.
    • To compare the version's filters to another version, click the Select a version dropdown menu and select the segment version to which you want to compare.
  9. To download a report of changes, click Export report.
