Why is the spacing (line height) different in Outlook versus other email clients?

Last updated: October 6, 2015

Different email clients use different baselines for spacing/line-height. Often, if you do not specify the line height (notably within tables) Outlook will apply its default spacing. Please follow the steps below so you can set a different line height for text within your email.

  • Navigate to Content > Email and select an email to edit.
  • In the rich text editor, highlight text you want to adjust the spacing for.
  • In the toolbar, click on Style > Line Height and select a line height (1.5 em is the HubSpot default).
