Reference fields are sent from Salesforce to HubSpot as an 18-digit ID, instead of the user-facing label that you see in Salesforce. There's no way for HubSpot to automatically pull in these labels, but you may map the reference field to a new custom dropdown property that you create in HubSpot. To learn how to create a custom field mapping, check out this article.
Once your mapping has been created, you can manually edit the labels of the dropdown options for the property in HubSpot when new values are created in Salesforce. To edit the labels for the HubSpot property:
- Navigate to Contacts > Contacts Settings.
- Find the property being used in this mapping. Click the gear icon and select Edit.
- Click Edit Options. The Internal Value column will show the 18-digit ID from Salesforce (if the Internal Value column does not appear, click Show Internal Values).
- Edit the Label for the new value to match the value that appears within Salesforce.
You'll now be able to use these reference fields to segment based on the labels, instead of the IDs. Please keep in mind that this method requires on-going upkeep. If a new value is added in Salesforce, you will need to manually edit the label in HubSpot for the custom dropdown property.
