Create and publish Instagram reels or carousel posts

After connecting your Instagram account, you can use HubSpot's social tool to create and publish different types of Instagram posts.

You can create Instagram reels to share video content to your Instagram account, or create an Instagram carousel and publish multiple images to a single post.

Before you get started 

Before creating your Instagram reel or carousel post, please note the following: 

  • When creating an Instagram reel, ensure that your video meets Instagram's reel upload requirements and video requirements
  • When creating an Instagram carousel post: 
    • You can add up to 10 images to your post.
    • The images must be in either png, jpg, or jpeg formats.
    • You cannot add alt text to the images. 

Create an Instagram reel or carousel post

To create a new Instagram reel or carousel post:

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Social.
  • In the upper right, click Create social post.
  • In the left panel, click the Select accounts dropdown menu. Then, select the checkbox next to the Instagram account you want to post to.
  • In the Create your posts section, click the Instagram tab. 
  • In the text box, enter the content for your Instagram post. When entering your content, please note the following: 
    • The character limit for Instagram is 2,200 characters.
    • Instagram does not support links in posts. 
  • To create an Instagram reel: 
    • In the Publish as section, click Reel
    • In the Add Media section, click the insertVideo video icon
    • To select an existing video from your file manager, click the video thumbnail.
    • To upload a new video from your device or a URL, in the bottom left of the panel, click Add video.
    • You can choose whether or not the reel displays on your main profile grid:
      • By default, the option to share the reel to your Instagram feed will be turned on.
      • If you do not want to display the reel on your main profile grid, click to toggle the Also share to feed switch off. 
    • To add a location to your reel:
      • Click the Add location dropdown menu.
      • In the search bar, enter the name of the location. 
      • Then, scroll to search the various locations available.
      • Click the desired location
         

  • To create an Instagram carousel post: 
    • In the Add Media section, click the insertImage ImageFfefeimage icon
    • To select an existing image from your file manager, click the image.
    • To upload a new image from your device or a URL, in the bottom left of the panel, click Add image.
      • Click into the search bar and enter a search term, then press the Enter key.
      • Click the Stock images tab.
      • Click an image to display the image details.
      • Click Insert to add the image to your social post.
    • To add another image and create an Instagram carousel, In the Add Media section, click the insertImage ImageFfefeimage icon. You can add up to 10 images in png, jpg, and jpeg formats.


Analyze your reels 

Data from your reels will be included in the social reports available in the Analyze tab. Learn more about the different social reports available

  • If you've just connected your Instagram account to HubSpot, the last 60 days of social post data including reels data will be automatically retrieved.
  • If your Instagram account is already connected, the last 31 days of social post data including reels data will be automatically retrieved.
You can also analyze the performance of reels from the Manage tab of the social tool: 
  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Social.
  • In the top right, click Manage columns
  • In the dialog box, click the checkboxes next to the metrics that you'd like to include.
    • When analyzing the performance of reels, it is recommended to include the Reach metric. This metric is calculated by the number of unique accounts that have seen your Facebook or Instagram post at least once
  • At the bottom, click Save. You can then review and compare the performance of your reels. You can also export your post data including the new Reach metric.
