How to switch from the HubSpot for Wordpress plugin to the HubSpot Tracking Code for Wordpress plugin

Last updated: December 13, 2016

As of August 24th 2015, HubSpot will no longer develop or support the "HubSpot for Wordpress" plugin. HubSpot has released a simplified version of the plugin, "HubSpot Tracking Code for Wordpress". The deprecated "HubSpot for Wordpress" plugin will continue to function, but will not be maintained nor supported by HubSpot. The following article outlines how to switch from the old plugin to the new official HubSpot plugin.

Check to see if your site is using HubSpot shortcodes

The HubSpot Tracking Code for Wordpress plugin does not include a built in shortcode feature for embedding forms and CTAs. Forms and CTAs can be embedded directly in your pages and posts. Deactivating the HubSpot for Wordpress plugin without swapping the shortcodes for embeds will cause any shortcode generated forms and CTAs not to render.

Before you switch to the new official plugin, make sure that your site is not using HubSpot form shortcodes:

  • On the Wordpress sidebar, navigate to HubSpot > Shortcodes
  • Check to see if you have form embeds saved in fields next to shortcodes
  • If so, locate where the pages on your site where the shortcodes are in use
  • Remove the shortcode (ex: [hs_form id="0"]) and paste the form embed code directly into the Text view of the editor
  • Update your page or post

Next ensure that you are not using CTA shortcodes:

  • On the Wordpress sidebar, navigate to Calls to Action
  • Check to see if you have CTAs saved in Wordpress
  • If so, where the pages on your site where the shortcodes are in use
  • Remove the shortcode (ex: [hs_action id="0"]) and paste the CTA embed code directly into the Text view of the editor
  • Update your page or post
