Create campaigns

Use the HubSpot campaigns tool to create, manage, and report on a single marketing campaign with multiple assets in one place. You can set campaign details such as a budget and goals, and associate assets with the campaign.
After creating your campaign, review your campaign in the campaign's details page. Keep track of your campaign assets and analyze the campaign's performance. You can also collaborate with your team on campaigns, learn more about adding comments to your HubSpot campaigns.
You can also create a campaign using a campaign template to guide you along.
Create a campaign
To create a campaign from scratch:
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
- In the upper right, click Create campaign. If it is your first time creating a campaign, it is recommended to use the guided onboarding experience.
- In the Create your first campaign dialog box, click Help me get started. Then, follow the guided steps.

If you are already familiar with the campaigns tool, click I'll do it myself. Then, continue with the steps below, or use a campaign template to guide you along.
- In the right panel, click Start from template. Then, click Next.
- In the right panel, configure your campaign details. After creating your campaign, you will still be able to edit the campaign's details. You can also configure the campaign properties displayed.
- Campaign name: this should be a unique name that other users in your HubSpot account will easily understand.
- Campaign color: select a campaign color to organize and prioritize your campaigns. Any tasks you associate with your campaign will feature the selected color in your marketing calendar.
- Business unit: if you have the Business Units add-on, you can also select a Business unit.

- Campaign owner: assign a campaign owner to your campaign.
- Campaign start date: set a start date for your campaign. The date will be reflected in your marketing calendar.
- Campaign end date: set an end date for your campaign. Together with the start date, these dates will be reflected in your marketing calendar.

- Campaign goal: use a goal to summarize the objective of your campaign. You can customize specific targets like the number of contacts or influenced revenue after you've created the campaign.
- Campaign audience: specify an audience to help your team understand who your campaign is targeting.
- Currency code: select a currency for your campaign budget. Learn how to add and edit your account's currencies.

- Campaign notes: add notes to keep track of any other essential campaign details.
- At the bottom, click Create. After creating your campaign, keep track of your campaign's budget and spending with itemized lists and amount totals in the Budget tab of the campaign details page.
Add goals
After creating your campaign, you can add goals to keep track of your desired campaign outcomes.
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
- Click the name of the campaign.
- In the upper left, click Actions, then select Edit goals.
- In the dialog box, enter goal numbers for Sessions, New contacts, Influenced contacts.
- Click Save.
Add assets and content to your campaign
After creating a campaign, you can add existing marketing assets and content (e.g., emails, blog posts, landing pages) to the campaign from the campaigns tool. You can also associate existing and new assets or content with the campaign from their respective tools. Learn how to manage your campaign assets.
Please note: adding assets or content that are already associated with another campaign to a new campaign will remove them from their current campaigns. Only workflows and lists can be associated with multiple campaigns.
To add assets from the campaigns tool:
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
- Click the name of the campaign.
- In the upper left, click Actions, then select Add assets.
- In the dialog box, select an asset type in the left sidebar menu to add to the campaign.
- To add an existing asset:
- Use the search bar to search for assets or content.
- Select the checkbox next to an asset or piece of content to add it to the campaign. If you're using the Business units add-on, it's recommended to associate assets from the same business unit. Some assets cannot be associated with business units, learn more about associating assets with business units.

- When you're done, click Save.
- To add a new asset:
- In the top right, click Create [asset]. You'll be directed to the asset's dashboard in a new browser tab. When creating your new asset, it will automatically be associated with the campaign.
- After creating your new asset, navigate back to the campaigns browser tab.
- In the Add assets dialog box, in the top right, click Refresh for new assets. The new asset will be displayed after refreshing.
- Select the checkbox next to the new asset to add it to the campaign.
- Click Save.
Create tracking URLs for your campaign
You can also create tracking URLs to measure the effectiveness of your campaigns in driving traffic to your website's pages.
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
- Click the name of the campaign.
- In the upper left, click Actions, then select Create tracking URL.
- In the right panel, enter a URL, select a UTM campaign, and a Source. You can also specify a UTM medium, UTM term, and UTM content.
- Click Create, or Create and add another to create another tracking URL for the campaign.
Review campaigns in the marketing calendar
Once you've created a campaign, it will automatically appear in your marketing calendar. The campaign's calendar dates will correspond to the Start date and End date set when creating a new campaign.
If your campaign does not have a set Start date and End date, it will not appear on the calendar. Learn more about using the marketing calendar to plan your campaigns.
To navigate to your marketing calendar:
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.
- In the top left, click the Calendar tab. You'll be brought to the marketing calendar for your account.
