When you connect your inbox to HubSpot, you can turn on inbox automation to use artificial intelligence (AI) features.

Understand inbox automation

These features allow the processing of data in email bodies, including email signatures, and metadata of all incoming and outgoing messages in your connected inbox.

Inbox automation powers features such as:

  • The automatic capture contact details in the CRM. Inbox automation features will attempt to read and automatically populate contact properties, such as first name, last name, and phone number. Learn more about which contact properties are populated and how to turn off this feature.
  • Recommended tasks based on email content. If an email body contains intent to follow-up, it'll be flagged as a recommended task in your daily digest emails.

Please note: when inbox automation is turned on, only new emails will be scanned. It will not scan your past emails.

Turn on inbox automation

To turn on automation for an inbox that's already connected:

  1. In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the top navigation bar.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, navigate to General.
  3. Click the Email tab.
  4. Next to the personal email inbox you want to turn inbox automation on for, click to toggle the Inbox Automation switch on.

You can turn off inbox automation at any time from your email integration settings. Recommended tasks and contact details captured by automation will not be deleted if you turn off this setting.
