Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:
-
Marketing Hub Professional, Enterprise
- HubSpot AEO
After setting up AEO, update your brand details, domains, competitors, ICPs, products, prompt groups, and answer engines in your AEO settings. These settings determine which mentions AEO counts as your brand, which domains AEO identifies as owned, which companies your visibility is compared against, which audiences and products AEO analyzes, how prompts are organized, and which answer engines are tracked.
Review these settings as your business changes so your dashboard data reflects your current brand, competitors, and the answer engines your audience uses. To track a distinct brand, learn how to manage multiple brands and domains. To review visibility results after updating your settings, learn how to analyze the AEO dashboard.
Please note: you can manage AI feature access in your AI settings and configure what data is shared. Review HubSpot's AI Trust FAQs and AI Model Cards for detailed information on AI security controls, data use, and compliance.
Edit brand settings
Answer engines refer to brands in different ways, such as with abbreviations, spacing differences, or former names. AEO only counts a mention when it matches a brand name variation, and variations are case-sensitive. Add each variation of your brand name so those mentions are included in your brand visibility and share of voice reports.
- In your HubSpot account, click More, then navigate to Marketing > AEO. If More doesn't appear in your account, navigate to Marketing > AEO directly.
- In the upper right, click the Settings icon.
- On the Brand settings tab, enter your brand name variations in the Brand name variation field. Separate each variation with a comma (e.g., AcmeCo, Acme Co). Brand name variations are case-sensitive, so enter each variation exactly as it appears.
- Click Save.
Manage multiple brands and domains
Add additional root domains that belong to the same brand to a single AEO setup, or use separate AEO setups to track unique brands. AEO uses the domains you add to identify owned citations in answer engine responses and displays the results on the AEO dashboard.
For example, if your primary domain is mydomain.com, you can add mydomain.org or mydomain.edu as additional domains for the same brand. To track a distinct brand, set up a separate brand in your account.
Add root domains for the same brand
To add another root domain to an existing brand:
- In your HubSpot account, click More, then navigate to Marketing > AEO. If More doesn't appear in your account, navigate to Marketing > AEO directly.
- In the upper right, click the Settings icon.
- On the Brand settings tab, enter the additional domains in the Add additional domains to your brand section.
- When finished, click Save.
Track multiple brands
Each unique brand requires its own AEO setup. To organize and track multiple brands, use one of the following approaches:
- Use the Brands add-on to set up separate brands within your account to track each brand independently.
- Use a separate standalone HubSpot AEO subscription for each brand.
Prompt groups can help organize prompts within an AEO dashboard, but they don't create separate dashboards or recommendations for each brand.
Manage competitors
Competitors set the benchmark for your brand visibility, share of voice, and citation reports. Add the companies you compete with and remove those you no longer compete with so these comparisons reflect your market.
Please note: changes to competitors only affect future data runs. To view data without a removed competitor, set the dashboard date range filter to start after the date the change was made.
- In your HubSpot account, click More, then navigate to Marketing > AEO. If More doesn't appear in your account, navigate to Marketing > AEO directly.
- In the upper right, click the Settings icon.
- Click the Competitors tab, then complete the relevant action:
- To edit a competitor, click the competitor's name. In the right panel, update the competitor's details, then click Save.
- To add a competitor, click Add more competitors at the bottom of the page. In the right panel, enter the competitor details, then click Add competitor.
- To delete competitors, select the checkboxes next to each competitor, then click Delete [#] selected.
Edit ICPs
Edit your Ideal Customer Profiles (ICPs) to ensure AEO tracks visibility for your current target audiences.
- In your HubSpot account, click More, then navigate to Marketing > AEO. If More doesn't appear in your account, navigate to Marketing > AEO directly.
- In the upper right, click the Settings icon.
- Click the All ICPs tab, then complete the relevant action below.
- To edit an ICP, click Edit next to the ICP name. Update the details in the right panel, then click Save.
- To create an ICP, click Create new Ideal Customer Profile. In the right panel, enter the ICP details, then click Save.
- To delete an ICP, click Delete. In the dialog box, click Delete.
Edit products and services
Keep your tracked products current to ensure AEO generates prompts that reflect your latest offerings.
- In your HubSpot account, click More, then navigate to Marketing > AEO. If More doesn't appear in your account, navigate to Marketing > AEO directly.
- In the upper right, click the Settings icon.
- Click the All products and services tab, then complete the relevant action below.
- To edit a product, click Edit next to the product name. Update the product details in the right panel, then click Save.
- To add a product, click Add new product or service. Enter the product details in the right panel, then click Save.
- To delete a product, click Delete. In the dialog box, click Delete.
Manage prompt groups
Organize tracked prompts into groups to analyze visibility by topic, product, or audience segment.
Please note: groups organize prompts within a single AEO dashboard. They don't create separate dashboards or recommendations for each group.
- In your HubSpot account, click More, then navigate to Marketing > AEO. If More doesn't appear in your account, navigate to Marketing > AEO directly.
- In the upper right, click the Settings icon.
- Click the All groups tab.
- To create a group, click Create a group. In the dialog box, enter a group name, then click Save.
Turn on premium engines
Turn on premium engines to run tracked prompts across six answer engines. In addition to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, premium engines include Claude, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overviews.
Please note: If you're a Super Admin, you can opt your account into the AEO Multi-Engine beta.
After turning on premium engines, results from all six engines contribute to your overall brand visibility score. To review your prompt results and manage the prompts tracked for your brand, see Review and manage AEO prompts.
- In your HubSpot account, click More, then navigate to Marketing > AEO. If More doesn't appear in your account, navigate to Marketing > AEO directly.
- In the upper right, click the Settings icon.
- Click the Answer engines settings tab.
- Toggle the Premium pack switch on.
Please note: tracking prompts across six engines uses twice as many answers per prompt as tracking across three engines. Your account must have enough AEO answer capacity before prompts run on premium engines. To add capacity, purchase the AEO Answers Limit Increase Add-on. For pricing details, see the HubSpot Product and Services Catalog.
Understand Google AI Overview results
Google AI Overview behaves differently from the other five engines. Before reviewing your results, note the following:
- It's expected that not every tracked prompt returns a Google AI Overview. Google determines when to display an AI Overview, so your visibility is calculated only from prompts that return a result.
- Each tracked prompt uses answer capacity, even if Google doesn't return an AI Overview for that prompt.
- AI Overview results can change quickly. Visibility may change from one day to the next, even when nothing about your brand has changed.
- AI Overview data is available on the Dashboard tab and the Prompts tab. To exclude it from your results, click the AI Overviews switch off in the upper right.
