View the history of an activity on a record timeline

Activities are interactions that are recorded on a record's timeline. They include notes, emails, calls, tasks, and meetings. Certain activities can be edited after being logged on the timeline (e.g., you can edit the contents of a note).

Please note: activities such as logged emails from an inbox cannot be edited, and therefore will not have a history. Only editable activities, such as manually logged emails and calls, will have a history.

To view a history of changes to an activity:

  • Navigate to your records:
    • Contacts: In your HubSpot account, navigate to Contacts > Contacts.
    • Companies: In your HubSpot account, navigate to Contacts > Companies.
    • Deals: In your HubSpot account, navigate to Sales > Deals.
    • Tickets: In your HubSpot account, navigate to Service > Tickets.
    • Custom objects: In your HubSpot account, navigate to Contacts > Contacts, then click the dropdown menu in the top left and select the name of the custom object.
  • Click the name of the record you want to check.
  • Locate the activity you want to analyze. If the activity details are collapsed, click the right right arrow in the top left of the activity to expand it.
  • Click Actions.
  • In the dropdown menu, select History.


  • In the right panel, view the history of changes to the activity.
