Just as you can add a single contact or import a list of contacts without email addresses, a contact can submit a form without providing their email address and still be added to your database. To allow submissions without emails to create contacts:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, click Marketing > Forms.
- Click to toggle the Allow submissions without email addresses to create contacts switch on. Then click Save. With this setting enabled, you can create a form without an email address field and submissions on the form will create new contacts in your account. HubSpot will de-duplicate these contacts based on cookies. If this setting is disabled and you create a form without an email address, you will see a prompt to add the email field to your form or allow submissions without email addresses to create contacts.
Please note: though contacts created via form submissions without an email address de-duplicate based on cookies, this setting is independent of the cookie tracking setting in your form options. If cookie tracking is on and two people with the same cookie fill out a form with no email, the submissions will be associated with the same contact record.
If you are using a custom email field and have this setting enabled, form submissions will add contacts to our database. However, because the default HubSpot Email property has no value, these contacts cannot be emailed or be enrolled in workflows.
