Why are paid search visits not appearing in the Sources Report?

In order for a paid search visit to appear under 'Paid Search' in the Sources Report, it must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Tracking URL parameters (source, utm_source, utm_campaign, utm_medium) contain "ppc" or "cpc" or "adword".
    • ex. page URL = "http://offers.hubspot.com/webinar-registration?utm_source=ppc"
    • ex. page URL = "http://offers.hubspot.com/webinar-registration?utm_campaign=webinar+register&utm_source=webinar&utm_medium=cpc"
    • ex. page URL = "http://offers.hubspot.com/webinar-registration?utm_campaign=ppc+webinar+register"
  • Referral URL contains 'google.com' AND 'utm_source' or 'utm_medium' or 'utm_content' is present.
    • ex. referral URL = "www.google.com/aclk?xyz123" and page URL= "http://offers.hubspot.com/webinar-registration?utm_campaign=webinar+register&utm_source=other&utm_medium=webinar"
  • Visited page URL contains the Google Adwords auto-tagging parameter, "gclid=".
    • ex. visited page URL = "http://offers.hubspot.com/webinar-registration?gclid=abc123"
