Can I migrate from another regional data center to the U.S. East Coast data center?

Data migration is only available from HubSpot's U.S. East Coast data center (United States (East)) to another regional data center.

What does the data migration include?

Your HubSpot account will now be stored in HubSpot's regional data center that you select during the migration process. The migration tool is built to support every feature and there is no expected data loss. This doesn't mean that your data will never leave the regional data center. Please read HubSpot's Data Processing Agreement and Regional Data Hosting Policy for more information.

How safe is HubSpot's migration tool? Does HubSpot have back-ups of my account?

The migration tool is safe and stable. Safeguards have been built that'll stop the migration and revert to the United States (East) data center if serious issues are detected. HubSpot keeps back-ups of your account (created before the migration starts) in the United States (East) data center that can be used if needed. These backups are deleted after the migration is complete and once it's been determined as safe to do so. Thereafter, Customer Data will be replicated for disaster recovery and back-up purposes to other data centers within the regional Hosting Location.

Do I need to make a back-up of my account before migrating the data?

No, you do not need to make your own back-up. You can export your account content and data if you'd like to do so.

Does someone from my team need to monitor our HubSpot account during the data migration process?

As your team will not have access to your HubSpot account during the migration, it is not necessary to have someone monitor your account during the process. HubSpot has safeguards built into the data migration process to monitor for issues.

Is there any data loss during the downtime?

While there is no data loss during the downtime, some tools are impacted. For more information review impact to HubSpot tools

What happens if I notice an issue after the migration?

Please contact HubSpot Support and note the day you migrated from the United States (East) to the new data center.

How can I confirm if the migration is successful?

When the migration is complete you will be able to log in to your account. Your account's super admins will also receive an email confirming that your account has either been successfully migrated, or if the migration failed.

You can check which data center your account is in by:

  • In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the top navigation bar.
  • Click Account Defaults.
  • Click the Data Hosting tab where you can see where your HubSpot account is hosted.

Please note: HubSpot uses a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to route traffic into our network. If using an IP address location lookup tool post migration, the result will not be a reliable representation of where data is traveling. For this reason, please follow the above steps to confirm the migration.

Why was my account put on a specific data center?

If your HubSpot account was created before July 2021, it was automatically created on HubSpot's United States (East) data center. Where customers have purchased the Subscription Service and Customer Data is hosted in the United States, they can choose to migrate their data to another data center, subject to some limitations.

If your HubSpot account was created from July 2021 onwards, customers who purchase a Subscription Service are given an option during the sign-up process to choose where their account is located. If a HubSpot sales representative created the account for you, they could select which data center to host your account on.

In cases where a customer has not selected a Hosting Location or for customers using Free Services only, HubSpot will make a Hosting Location selection to support your access to the Subscription Services.

Once the account is created, the data can only be moved between data centers through the migration process.
