Manually quarantine contacts from receiving marketing emails

Last updated: January 7, 2026

Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:

To remediate an email suspension, blocklisting event, or trust and safety violation, HubSpot may require you to opt out or quarantine certain contacts. Quarantining a contact will exclude them from receiving marketing emails, but not sales emails.

To ensure you can still enroll these contacts in a sequence, send them a one-to-one email, or use them in other tools within HubSpot, you can edit the value of a contact's Email address quarantine reason property on their contact record or update a segment of contacts in bulk.

If one of the contacts you manually quarantined replies to a one-to-one email, sequence email, or submits a form, their quarantined status will be removed and they'll be eligible to receive marketing emails again.

Quarantine individual contacts

  2. Click the name of the contact.
  3. On the contact record, click the Actions dropdown menu in the About this contact section of the left column and select View all properties.\

Bulk quarantine contacts
