Set default object views for users

Users with super admin permissions can set default views to appear as tabs on each object's index page. For new users and users who haven't customized tabs, the account-wide default tab configuration will automatically appear when they navigate to that object. For all users, the default views will be included in the Admin promoted section shown when adding a view.

Users can update their own view tabs at any time, which will override the account-wide defaults.

To set the default view tabs for an object:

  • Navigate to any object's home page (e.g., In your HubSpot account, navigate to CRM > Contacts.)
  • Click All views.


  • On the All views page, click the Default views tab.


  • By default, contact views are shown. To edit another object's default views, click the Contacts dropdown menu, then select the object.


  • In the left panel, select the checkboxes for the views you want to appear. The Standard Views card includes HubSpot-created views, and the Custom Views card includes the user-created views with visibility set to Everyone.
  • To change the order of the tabs, click and drag a tab. If you place a view in the left most position, it becomes the default view, which opens each time a user navigates to the index page. For deals, tickets, and custom objects, the default view also applies to board view.
  • To remove a view, click the X on a tab.
  • Once you're done, click Save in the top right.

The default tabs will appear for new users moving forward, and for existing users who haven't yet modified their view tabs. Learn how each user can customize their own view tabs.
