Where is HubSpot’s product infrastructure hosted?

HubSpot’s product infrastructure is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States (East and West regions), Canada, Australia and European Union (Germany). HubSpot accounts are hosted in one of these data centers, and customer data is processed and stored in that location.

Regional Hosting/Data Center Location State/Country Location

European Union Germany
United States (East) Virginia
United States (West) Oregon
Canada Montreal
Australia Sydney

Customer data will also be replicated for disaster recovery and back-up purposes to other data centers within the regional hosting location.

How are data centers assigned?

When you purchase a subscription on the HubSpot website, your account will be assigned a data center based on the geolocation of your IP address at sign-up.

If your account only has free tools, you will be assigned a data center in the United States.

If your account has a Starter, Professional, or Enterprise subscription, you can change your data center. If your account has free tools, you can upgrade to change your data center.

How can I see what data center I have been assigned to when signing up?

When you sign up for HubSpot, you'll be able to see what data center location has been assigned to you. In the example below, the data center location is in the United States.

How can I check my data center and where my account data is hosted?

There are a few ways to confirm where your HubSpot account data is hosted, including in your Account Defaults, Account & Billing Overview, and your order forms.

Review your account defaults page

To review your Account Defaults page:

  • In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the top navigation bar.
  • In the left sidebar menu, click Account Defaults
  • At the top, click the Data Hosting tab.
  • In the Your data hosting location section, view where your HubSpot data is hosted.

Review your Account & Billing Overview

To review the Overview in your Account & Billing details:

  • In your HubSpot account, click your account name in the top right corner, then click Account & Billing.
  • In the bottom left, the data hosting location will appear under your current subscriptions and add-ons.

Review your HubSpot order forms

To review your HubSpot order forms:

  • In your HubSpot account, click your account name in the top right corner, then click Account & Billing.
  • Click the Transactions tab.
  • In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Orders.
  • To view an order, click View or Download under the document. A PDF of the document will open in a new tab of your browser where you can then download it.

If your order form specifies North America, you can see the specific hosting location by navigating to your Account Defaults.

How can I change my data center location?

You can change your data center if your account has a paid subscription. If your account has free tools, upgrade to change data centers.

Will the processing of customer data happen outside the data center location?

Yes. In a very limited number of cases, the processing of customer data can happen outside of your data center location.

The following are possible cases:

  • Your use of (i) Add-Ons and Third Party Products or Beta Services: For example, you choose to integrate an App (Third Party Product) from HubSpot’s App Marketplace. The App that you integrate may process data and transfer data outside of the data center location.
  • Consulting Services: For example, if you choose to work with a Solutions Partner and that Solutions Partner processes and transfers data outside of the data center location.
  • HubSpot Content: HubSpot Content may be hosted outside of the data center location. Examples of HubSpot Content include Consulting Services and Enrichment Data. Additional information is provided in the HubSpot Customer Terms of Service.
  • Analytics and Usage Data: HubSpot may collect data about how you use and interact with the Subscription Service. This data will be transferred from the hosting location to the United States. The HubSpot team processes analytics and usage data and this may happen in the USA. For more information about the usage data, please refer to HubSpot's Privacy Policy
  • Sub-Processors: HubSpot's Sub-Processors might process your data, including personal data outside the hosting location. Please see the HubSpot Sub-processors page for more information. When you review the HubSpot Sub-processors page you’ll see a column for your data center location (United States, European Union, Canada, Australia). In each column, you can see the location of where data is processed by each Sub-processor. For those Sub-Processors marked with an *, you may choose not to use the functionality provided by those Sub-Processors. This means that if you don’t use the functionality of one of those Sub-Processors (for example, Meta Platforms, Inc.), your data will not be processed by that Sub-Processor.
  • User Access: If your users access HubSpot from different regions, data may be transferred outside of your data center location. You are responsible for managing such access. For example, if you have offices in the USA, but your employees are traveling for business in Brazil. In this case, data may be transferred beyond the data center location, depending on what controls you have in place for employees accessing company systems abroad.
  • HubSpot Affiliates: HubSpot, Inc. is located in the USA and certain storage and processing may continue outside of the data center location, including in the USA and other regions where HubSpot and its Affiliates operate. A list of Affiliates is included on the HubSpot Sub-processors page
  • Customer Support and Product Development: To assist you, HubSpot staff may access your data from other regions for support and development purposes, in line with the Customer Terms of Service. For example, support may access your HubSpot account if you call HubSpot Support and have a question about how to use a certain feature or to fix a bug. Learn more about how to manage your customer support settings.
  • Security and Abuse Prevention: HubSpot employees from other office locations may access your data to prevent, investigate, monitor, or address security incidents, or misuse of the subscription. For example, if you have a question about your subscription and you contact customer support, and the support agent is located outside of your data center location. For another example, there is a potential security incident impacting a customer in the United States data center, but the HubSpot technical team based in Ireland needs to process data to understand the extent of the issue.

Are data center locations secure?

Yes, the same robust security measures are applied regardless of where your data is located. In addition to security measures, HubSpot also places reliance on AWS's audited security and compliance programs for the efficacy of physical, environmental, and infrastructure security controls. These controls are independently validated as part of AWS’s SOC 2 Type 2 report and ISO 27001 certification.

AWS’s compliance documentation and audit reports are publicly available on the AWS Cloud Compliance Page and the AWS Artifacts Portal. For more details on HubSpot security measures, review the Security Overview located in the Trust Center.

As with any other legal issues, it's recommended that you review your specific situation with your legal counsel when assessing the use of HubSpot and its tools to understand how you can meet your local legal and compliance requirements.

What does HubSpot do to ensure lawful data transfers from the EU?

HubSpot has a robust privacy program that is designed to align with many regions’ data hosting needs. The GDPR permits transfers of personal data outside of the European Union subject to certain conditions. HubSpot has relevant data transfer mechanisms in place between its entities and has undertaken a review of its data centers to ensure they comply with HubSpot's requirements, including with regard to SOC2 compliance.

HubSpot's Data Processing Agreement includes the EU and U.S. Data Privacy Framework, Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as the mechanism to transfer data from the EU to the US.

To learn more, see HubSpot's Data Processing Agreement, Data Privacy FAQ and Transfer Impact Assessment

More information about HubSpot’s privacy program is included in the Privacy Policy, HubSpot's legal page, and on HubSpot’s Trust Center.
