If your social network account is disconnected from HubSpot, you will need to reauthorize the connection.

Social networks may disconnect your account for privacy and security reasons. This can occur if your social media account is deleted, has not been used for an extended period of time, or is compromised.

At any time, you can also manually disconnect or completely remove a social network account from HubSpot. Social networks will also ask you to reauthorize your connected accounts for privacy and security reasons at the following intervals:

  • Facebook and Instagram: every 90 days.
  • X (formerly Twitter): after 90 days of inactivity.
  • LinkedIn: one year after you first connect your account.

Before you get started

Before reauthorizing or disconnecting your social account, please note the following:
  • When a social media account is disconnected:
    • All scheduled posts will be canceled.
    • Previously published posts will no longer appear on the Published tab.
  • If you reconnect a social media account within the timeframe below, posts published through HubSpot, your post history, and previously scheduled posts will still be available in the social tool. Previously scheduled posts will also be published at the scheduled time after re-connecting a disconnected account.
    • Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) accounts: you will need to reconnect your account within 1 year.
    • LinkedIn and YouTube accounts: you will need to reconnect your account within 60 days.
  • If a disconnected social media account is not reconnected within the above timeframes, your post history, previously scheduled posts, and draft posts may no longer be accessible in HubSpot.
  • If you need to reauthorize your account, whether you receive a notification depends on the following:
    • If your account is disconnected for security reasons or inactivity, you will not receive a notification.
    • If a social network is prompting you to reauthorize your account, HubSpot will attempt to send a notification one week before the account needs to be reauthorized. This notification will be sent to the following:
      • The last user who connected the account
      • Users who have a scheduled post from the account
      • All Super Admins
  • If you've received a reauthorization notification, but the Reconnect option is not displayed, this still means that your account may be disconnected soon. It is still recommended to disconnect, then re-connect your social media account before it expires. The Reconnect option only displays when the account has disconnected.

Reauthorize your social media account

Any HubSpot user with All accounts social permissions and the required social account permissions can reconnect the account. It is recommended for the user who originally connected the account to go through the authorization process. If you run into any issues when reconnecting, you can try disconnecting and reconnecting the account.

To reconnect your social media account:

  • In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the main navigation bar.
  • In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Marketing > Social.
  • In the Accounts tab, click Reconnect under the name of the account.
  • If your account has been disconnected for more than 90 days, it will not display in the social settings. To reconnect these accounts:
    • In the upper right, click Connect account. In the dialog box, the disconnected accounts will display as selected but greyed out.
    • Click Continue. The reconnected account will display in your social settings.

Disconnect your social media account

You can also manually disconnect your social media account. Only a Super Admin or the user who originally connected the account can disconnect it.

  • In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the main navigation bar.
  • In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Marketing > Social.
  • Hover over the account you want to disconnect and click Disconnect.
  • In the dialog box, click Disconnect account.
