Marketing email send was stopped

Last updated: November 10, 2025

Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:

Marketing emails that start to accumulate a high percentage of hard bounces, spam reports, or unsubscribes may be stopped automatically by HubSpot's email protection system. This helps protect your email sender reputation and reduce the chances that your emails will be identified as spam.

Resolve recipient issues

To protect your sending reputation, complete the following steps before trying to resend a stoped marketing email:

  1. In the stopped email notification, click View email performance. Review the recipients, then delete any contacts who didn't provide opt-in consent.
  2. Confirm that all contacts you are sending marketing emails to meet HubSpot's sending requirements
  3. Verify that you have imported all opted-out contacts from other email systems into HubSpot.
  4. Delete any contacts who haven't heard from you in over six months. You can create an active segment for these contacts by filtering for the contact property Last email send date.

Resend a stopped email

Once you've made sure that unengaged and opted-out contacts are no longer in your account, you can resend the stopped email. This option will only be available if there are engaged contacts among your recipients.

  1. In the stopped email notification, click Send to remaining engaged contacts. This will create a clone of the original email with the unengaged contacts excluded.
  2. In the email editor, send the cloned email.
