For lead scores and heath scores, to verify a score is working as expected, you can test individual records or access a preview of the expected score distribution. You can test records or view score distributions when creating a new score or for existing scores.
You can test and preview record scores with the following options:
- Test a record: checks what the score would be for a specific record. Use this option if you want to test one record at a time and see how points are added or subtracted for individual rules.
- Preview distribution: shows insights into scores for a range of records. Use this option if you want to test multiple records at once and see an overview of total scores rather than points for individual rules.

When you test an individual record, you can see the test record's total score as well as points for each rule.

- Click the Search dropdown menu to search for and select the record to test.
- At the top, the total score and number of criteria matched is displayed.
- To view how the score was calculated based on specific rules, scroll down to view your criteria:

- If the record does not meet the criteria of a rule, there will be a red X with 0 points.
- To test another record, click the dropdown menu and select another record to test.
- To stop testing, click Stop testing or click the X on the right of the testing banner.

Troubleshoot score tests with unexpected results
If you've tested a score for one or multiple records and are getting unexpected results, review the following troubleshooting steps:
- Review guidance about how scores are calculated. Certain scoring logic is different for engagement and fit criteria. You may need to adjust how your rules are configured to carry out the goal of your score.
- Check the property history of records to verify if properties related to fit criteria or engagement have expected values. If not, edit the property value or verify which actions update certain activity-based properties. Review the contact properties article, company properties article, and deal properties article for more information about automatic property updates.
