Can I add contacts to the CRM without an email address?

There are two ways to add contacts to the CRM without an email address.

To add a single contact without an email address:

You can manually add a single contact in the CRM without an email address. 

  • Navigate to Contacts.  
  • Click Add contact.
  • Enter at least a name for this contact, then click Create contact


To import a CSV file without email addresses:

You can import a CSV file to add multiple contacts in the CRM without an email address.

Generally, it is better if you could map at least one primary email per contact because HubSpot CRM uses the email address to deduplicate contacts and automatically map contacts to their companies.

  • Navigate to Contacts.
  • Click the Actions dropdown at the top-right and select Import contacts.
  • From here, click Start a new import, choose Contacts, Companies, or Deals, choose your file and click upload
  • Select the checkbox labeled Import contacts without email address, then proceed throught the import process.
If a column for email address isn't included, HubSpot will not be able to deduplicate contacts automatically. Be mindful about the import. Any row with data in the CSV will be imported as a contact. Follow the instructions in this article to import your CSV file.
