How do I add contacts to the CRM without an email address?

There are two ways to add contacts to the CRM without an email address. These contacts will still count towards the contacts limit for your account.

Please note: although it is possible to add contacts to the CRM without an email address, it is not generally recommended because HubSpot uses the email address to deduplicate contacts and automatically associate contacts with companies.

Add a single contact without an email address:

  • In your HubSpot Sales account, click Contacts in the main navigation menu.
  • Click Create contact at the upper right.
  • Enter at least a First name for this contact, then click Create contact

Please note: if your CRM administrator has set the email field as Required, you'll need to include this field when creating a contact.

Import a CSV file without email addresses:

  • In your HubSpot Sales account, click Contacts in the main navigation menu.
  • Click Import at the upper right.
  • Click Start a new import at the upper right.
  • Select A CSV File, then choose Contacts.
  • Click Select a file and select the CSV file from your computer.
  • Click Upload at the bottom right.
  • Check the box for Import contacts without email address, then proceed with the rest of the import process.

Please note: you'll still need to include an Email column in your CSV import file, even if the column values are blank. Learn more about importing contacts into HubSpot here.
