Connect HubSpot and Google Chat

Connect the app for Google Chat to HubSpot to manage notifications from Google Chat, connect Google Chat to your inbox, connect Google Chat to your channels to your help desk workspace, and receive HubSpot notifications in Google Chat. Follow the steps below to connect HubSpot and Google Chat, then learn more about using the integration for Google Chat.

Before you get started

There a number of different ways to connect Google Chat:
  • If you want to set up Google Chat for all users in your HubSpot account, you must be a Super Admin or have App Marketplace permissions in your HubSpot account. You must also be an administrator for the Google Space workspace you want to install the integration to. 
  • A Super Admin, or user with App Marketplace permissions in your HubSpot account that isn't an administrator for the Google Space workspace can install the integration for the account, but every user will have to map their respective user in HubSpot and complete an authentication flow. 
  • An administrator of Google Space workspace who isn't a HubSpot user can install the HubSpot app for Google Chat on the Google marketplace. Once installed, every user will have to map their respective user in HubSpot and complete an authentication flow. 

Please note:

  • Only one Google Chat workspace can be connected to HubSpot through this integration. 
  • Where the integration was installed by an admin from the Google Workspace Marketplace beforehand, users in the Google workspace whose emails match their HubSpot email address will be automatically mapped. If the email addresses don't match, they will need to manually create a mapping.

Connect HubSpot and Google Chat

  • In your HubSpot account, click the Marketplace icon marketplace in the top navigation bar, then select App Marketplace.
  • Search for and select Google Chat
  • In the top right, click Install app. You'll be redirected to Google in a new browser tab.
  • Review the requested permissions, then click Allow.

Once you’ve approved the requested permissions, you'll be redirected back to HubSpot. You'll also receive a Google chat message confirming that you've installed the HubSpot app for your Google workspace.

Map HubSpot and Google chat email addresses

If your HubSpot user email doesn't match your Google user email, you'll need to manually map your Google workspace account with HubSpot, using your Google email.

To manually map a user account:

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Data Management > Integrations.
  • Click Google Chat.
  • Click Connect account.
  • To connect using your Google Workspace email, click Using Google Workspace user email.

Please note: the app should be installed by an admin from the Google Workspace marketplace to use this method. If it has not been insatlled, you can map using Google login instead.

    • Enter your Google Workspace email in the Google account field, then click Update linked account.
    • A pop-up window will confirm that a verification message has been sent to Google Chat.
    • Navigate to your Google Chat app and click Verify on the message from HubSpot for Google Chat.

  • To connect via the Google login, click Using Google login.
    • Enter your Google credentials and click Continue.
    • Select the access you'd like to grant, then click Continue.
    • A pop-up window will confirm that a verification message has been sent to Google Chat.

    • Navigate to your Google Chat app and click Verify on the message from HubSpot for Google Chat.

Disconnect the integration for Google Chat

To uninstall the Google Chat app: 

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Data Management > Integrations.
  • Click Google Chat.
  • In the upper-right, click Uninstall
  • In the dialog box, enter the required text and click Uninstall

After installing the integration for Google Chat you can begin to manage your notifications, and help desk tickets in HubSpot while working in Google Chat.
