Manage HubSpot Credits

Last updated: September 16, 2026

Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:

Summary

HubSpot Credits are required for certain usage-based features, such as Customer Agent, Prospecting Agent, Data Agent, and Data Studio syncs.

Credits are used only when specific actions are performed, like executing a Breeze action in a workflow or when an automated or recurring action consumes credits.

In this article, learn how to customize your credit settings, including understanding auto-upgrades and configuring credit overage settings. All HubSpot accounts on the seat-based pricing model receive included HubSpot Credits. If you need more credits, you can purchase additional credits as needed. Learn how many HubSpot Credits are included in your account, based on your highest HubSpot subscription tier.

The features you have access to in HubSpot depend on your highest HubSpot subscription tier. To help you identify which features consume HubSpot Credits, there are HubSpot Credits icons within HubSpot. To learn more about which features require HubSpot Credits and the number of credits each feature uses, refer to HubSpot’s Products & Services catalog.

Please note: features currently in beta may consume credits in the future, and credit rates may change as features evolve. While we aim to provide a 30-day notice before beta features begin consuming credits, this may not be possible given the rapid pace of beta development. All beta features are subject to the HubSpot Beta Services Terms.

Seats required Only users with paid seats (Core Seats, Sales Seats, Service Seats, and Revenue Seats) and Partner Seats can use HubSpot Credits. Free users and View-only Seat users cannot use HubSpot Credits.

Before you get started

Prior to starting using HubSpot Credits, it’s important to understand some key concepts about how HubSpot Credits work.

  • HubSpot Credits reset every month, aligned with the start date of your usage period.

  • Unused credits expire at the end of each usage period and do not roll over to the next month.

  • After you purchase additional HubSpot Credits, exceeding your credit limit will trigger either an automatic upgrade or pay-as-you-go overages, depending on your default billing setting.
      • If you purchased additional HubSpot Credits before Sept. 16, 2026, auto-upgrade is the default setting.
      • If you purchased additional HubSpot Credits on or after Sept. 16, 2026, pay-as-you-go is the default setting.
  • You can only cancel or downgrade your additional HubSpot Credits capacity packs at the end of your contractual commitment term. To do this, reach out to HubSpot Support before your renewal date.

How to customize credit settings

By default, when you have used all your included credits and have not purchased additional HubSpot Credits capacity packs, any usage-based features will pause until your next reset date or until you purchase additional HubSpot Credits capacity packs.

After purchasing additional HubSpot Credits capacity packs, your account will be defaulted to auto-upgrade (the default setting if you purchased additional HubSpot Credits before Sept. 16, 2026) or pay-as-you-go (the default setting if you purchased additional HubSpot Credits on or after Sept. 16, 2026). You can also choose to update between the two billing settings:

To manage usage, set a maximum monthly credit limit for your account and for individual HubSpot tools.

How do auto-upgrades work with HubSpot Credits

If you purchased additional HubSpot Credits before Sept. 16, 2026, auto-upgrade is your default setting. When you’ve purchased additional credits and reach your monthly credit limit, your account will automatically be upgraded to include a higher HubSpot Credits capacity pack that reflects your usage for the rest of your commitment term.

For example, if you're an Enterprise customer with a 5,000 included HubSpot Credits, and you have purchased an additional 1,000 HubSpot Credits capacity pack, your account has a total of 6,000 HubSpot Credits per month. If you use 6,500 HubSpot Credits in a usage cycle, an extra 1,000 HubSpot Credit capacity pack will be automatically added to your subscription, increasing your monthly limit to 7,000 HubSpot Credits for the remainder of your contract. You can only downgrade your HubSpot Credits tier at the end of your contractual commitment term.

How do pay-as-you-go overages work with HubSpot Credits

With pay-as-you-go overages, you'll be charged HubSpot's current overage rates for each credit used beyond your monthly limit. On your reset date, your account will automatically go back to your original monthly credit limit, rather than remaining at the higher credit tier for the remainder of your commitment term.

Before getting started with overages, please note the following:

  • To use overages, you must first buy additional HubSpot Credits. If you have used only your included credits and have not purchased additional HubSpot Credits capacity packs, any usage-based features will pause until your next reset date or until you purchase additional HubSpot Credits capacity packs.
  • If you purchased additional HubSpot Credits before Sept. 16, 2026, auto-upgrade is the default setting.
  • If you purchased additional HubSpot Credits on or after Sept. 16, 2026, pay-as-you-go is the default setting.
  • Overages are billed on a monthly basis, in arrears, in increments of 10 HubSpot Credits, rounding down.
  • You'll receive a separate HubSpot invoice for your overage charges at the end of your monthly usage period. Payment is due in accordance with your existing payment terms.

Permissions required You must be a Super Admin or Billing Admin to turn on overages.

How to manage your account spend limit

After you purchase additional HubSpot Credits capacity packs, an account-level spend limit is automatically set up to 50% above your total monthly HubSpot Credits. This limit controls the maximum number of HubSpot Credits over your account limit that can be used each month.

For example, you have a Marketing Hub Professional subscription, which comes with 3,000 included HubSpot Credits. Then you purchase 5,000 additional HubSpot Credits, which brings your total to 8,000 monthly HubSpot Credits available. By default, your account-level spend limit is set to 12,000, which is 50% more than your monthly HubSpot Credits.

When your account reaches the account-level spend limit, features that use HubSpot Credits will pause until the next reset date. Super Admins or Billing Admins will receive email notifications at 75%, 85%, and 90% usage, and again when the limit is reached.

You can adjust your account spend limit at any time.

To view and edit your account spend limit:

  1. In your HubSpot account, click your account name in the top right corner, then click Account & Billing.
  2. Click the HubSpot Credits tab.
  3. Under Maximum monthly credits, click Edit

  1. On the Maximum monthly credits dialog box, use the arrows to set your limit or enter an amount
  2. Click Confirm

If you buy additional credits during a month and the purchase doesn't exceed your maximum limit, your existing limit will remain the same.

However, if buying additional credits brings you over your current maximum limit, the new total will become your new maximum limit. You'll receive a notification asking you to review and update your maximum monthly limit.

How to set a maximum monthly credit limit for individual HubSpot tools

In addition to setting a maximum monthly credit limit for your account, you can set credit spend limits for individual HubSpot tools that consume HubSpot Credits. Feature-level limits help you control how many credits a specific HubSpot tool can use each month.

Before setting a feature-level limit, please note the following:

  • Feature-level limits are monthly spending limits, not credit allocations. Setting a limit for a HubSpot tool doesn't reserve credits for it.
  • When you set a feature-level limit, the HubSpot tool can use credits until it reaches the specified limit. Once the limit is reached, any additional credit usage for that tool is blocked until the limit resets or is increased.
If you've set both a feature-level limit and an account-level limit:
  • The account-level limit remains the overall limit for credit usage across all HubSpot tools.
  • You cannot set a feature-level limit that exceeds the account-level limit. For example, if your account has a maximum monthly credit limit of 10,000 HubSpot Credits, you can't set a feature-level limit higher than 10,000 HubSpot Credits.

To set a credit limit for a specific feature:

  1. In your HubSpot account, click your account name in the top right corner, then click Account & Billing.
  2. Click the HubSpot Credits tab.
  3. In the top right under Feature credit limits, click View.
  4. In the Manage usage by feature table, click the feature you want to set a limit for.
  5.  In the Credit limit section, click Add limit
  6. Use the arrows to set your limit or enter an amount.
  7. Click Save

How to set a maximum monthly credit limit for individual actions

For buyer intent, you can set a monthly credit limit for individual actions. Action-level limits give you more control over credit usage by allowing you to set a separate monthly limit for each action.

Before setting an action-level limit, please note the following:

  • Action-level limits are only supported for buyer intent.
  • An action-level limit cannot exceed the feature-level limit.
  • A feature-level limit cannot exceed the account-level limit.
  • Credit limits aren't turned on by default. You can set account-level, feature-level, and action-level limits independently or use a combination of limits.
  • All credit limits control how many credits you can use each month.

To set a credit limit for an individual action:

  1. In your HubSpot account, click your account name in the top right corner, then click Account & Billing.
  2. Click the HubSpot Credits tab.
  3. In the Manage usage by feature table, click Intent.
  4. In the Usage by action section, click Add limits.

  • When 75% of your credits are used.
  • When 85% of your credits are used.
  • When 90% of your credits are used.

If you’re a Super Admin or Billing Admin, it’s recommended that you regularly monitor your HubSpot Credits usage.
