During the import process, you map your file columns to properties in HubSpot. If you notice incorrect or missing values during mapping, you can update values from within the import tool rather than needing to edit and re-upload your file. For example, you can find and fix spelling mistakes or add values for blank cells.
To add or update values during import:
- Start an import.
- Once you've uploaded your file, click Next.
- On the Map columns in your file to [object/activity] properties screen, hover over the row with the values you want to edit, then click edit Edit column values.
- Select the column value to replace. The first time you open the panel, if an error is detected, the value causing the error will be automatically preloaded for you to fix. If there is no error or you've already edited values for the column, you can select any value you want to replace.
- To replace the value, in the replacement value field, enter or select the new value. This value will replace the column value for every row in which it appears in that column (e.g., a spelling mistake that appears in multiple rows of a column will be fixed for all cases).
Please note: you'll only be able to select column values that appear in the first 1,000 rows of your file. However, when you set a replacement value, it will replace all applicable values, including those beyond 1,000 rows.
- To not import the selected column value, rather than replace it, click the verticalMenu menu icon, then click block Don't import this value. This value will not be imported for every row in which it appears in that column.
- To add another replacement value, click add Replace another value, then choose the column value, and set the replacement value.
- To remove a replacement value, click the verticalMenu menu icon, then click delete Remove replacement. Errored values cannot be deleted.
- To reset all replacements, click Reset all changes. The replacement values for each of the selected column values will be removed.
- To close the panel, click Done.
- Changes are saved each time a replacement is set or updated. Once a column's values have been edited, edit Edited will appear in the corresponding row.
- Continue editing column values for other rows or resolving errors as needed, then click Next.
- Finish the import.
Once the import is complete, you can view any changes you made in the import summary.
