Show cookie categories in your cookie notification banner (BETA)

When you're customizing your cookie notification banner in HubSpot, you can also show the categories of cookies you're using and provide info on why you're using them.

Once you've set up each of your cookie categories, users can learn more about the data they're providing as part of each category, and opt out of certain cookies if they wish. Learn more about the cookies set in a visitor's browser by HubSpot.

To enable and customize the cookie categories in your notification banner:

  • In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
  • In the left sidebar menu, click Cookies.
  • Under Cookie Policy, locate an existing policy, or click Add policy to create a new cookie policy.
  • In the left panel, click to toggle the Display cookies by category switch on.

  • Under Customize cookies display, configure the accompanying info to be shown for each category:
    • Enter a Cookie settings button label. Website visitors will see this label as a link next to the Accept button in your cookie notification banner. If they click the link, it will open a dialog box which will list out each of the cookie categories.
    • Click Cookies introduction. Enter a label and description, so visitors can learn more about how cookies work in general.
    • Click Necessary cookies category.
      • Enter a label and description to provide your visitors with an explanation of the cookies that are critical for your website to function.
      • Since these cookies are critical, visitors can't opt out of this individual category when they accept the terms of your privacy banner. Under Always active toggle label, enter a label to accompany the disabled switch that visitors will see when they read about your necessary cookies.
    • Click Analytics cookies category. Enter a label and description, so visitors can learn about which cookies are used purely for analytics and reporting purposes.
    • Click Functionality cookies category. Enter a label and description, so visitors can learn about which cookies are used for optional functionality on your website, such as personalization.
    • Click Advertisement cookies category. Enter a label and description, to provide context on how certain cookies are used to optimize ads to keep them relevant and engaging to each visitor.
    • Under Accept all button label, enter a label for the button that visitors can click to accept all cookies.
    • Under Save button label, enter a label for the button that visitors can click to save their preferences for which cookie categories they've accepted or declined.
  • Click Publish.
