View your sales notifications in the activity feed

Last updated: May 9, 2023

Available with any of the following subscriptions, except where noted:

All products and plans

With the HubSpot Sales Chrome extension or the HubSpot Sales for Windows tray app, real-time notifications are triggered when a lead revisits your site, a tracked email is opened or clicked, a shared document is viewed, or a meeting is booked. These notifications will appear in real-time, and can be reviewed and managed from your activity feed in HubSpot.

Please note: the number of notifications you receive per month depends on your HubSpot subscription. If the monthly limit is reached, you can send tracked emails and receive real-time notifications, but your activity feed will not show notifications until the count resets on the first calendar day of the next month.

If you have a paid Sales Hub or Service Hub seat but are still seeing a monthly limit, your activity feed may be tied to the wrong HubSpot account. Learn how to update the HubSpot account tied to your email extension.

Real-time notifications

In order to receive real-time notifications, you must have Google Chrome running on your computer with the HubSpot Sales extension installed, or the HubSpot Sales for Windows tray app installed. Depending on which version of the extension you are using, these notifications will appear in one of two locations on your device.

  • HubSpot Sales Chrome extension: real-time notifications will appear in the upper right of your Chrome browser. To silence notifications, modify your notification settings in the Chrome extension.
  • HubSpot Sales for Windows tray app: real-time notifications will appear in the bottom right of your PC in the tray app. To silence real-time notifications, in the tray app, right-click the HubSpot sprocket icon sprocket and select Pause Notifications.

Use your activity feed

You can view all of your activity from the last year in your activity feed on desktop and in the HubSpot mobile app. Activities are grouped by contact and are unique to the account you are signed into when viewing the feed.

In the activity feed, you can view the following activity types:

  • All activity types: view all recent activity.
  • Email opens: view all recent email opens. Learn more about why you may also see multiple opens for the same email.
  • Email clicks: view all recent email clicks.
  • Sent emails: view all recent sent emails.

Please note: email tracking activity in your activity feed is specific to emails you have sent, so no other user can view this information, even account administrators. If you delete an email on a conversation, contact, or company record, the email's tracking information will also be removed from the activity feed.

To access your activity feed on desktop:
  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Contacts > Activity Feed.
  • Use the search bar to search for a specific activity. activity-feed-search-bar-and-filters
  • Click the Activities dropdown menu to filter your feed by specific activity types.
  • A collapsed activity card will only show the activity relating to the most recent engagement (e.g., 2 opens refers only to the contact's most recent email thread). To expand the card and view a full list of a contact's recent email opens and other activities, click [X] open(s)/sent/+ other activity.

  • For emails sent via the HubSpot Sales Chrome extension, you can click the subject of the email to navigate to the email in your sent folder. Emails sent from the CRM or Outlook will not be hyperlinked.
  • To follow up with a contact, hover over the activity and click Call, Email, or Create task. Click the More dropdown menu and select Create note to log a note on the record, or Schedule to schedule a meeting with the contact.

  • To mute new notifications for a specific email thread, click notification at the top of the activity. You can also hover over the email activity, click the More dropdown menu, then select Turn off thread notifications.
  • To resume notifications, click notificationOff at at the top of the activity, or click the More dropdown menu and select Turn on thread notifications.

Please note: muting an email thread prevents new real-time notifications, but the thread will continue to appear in your activity feed. Muting will not prevent free users from reaching their monthly notification limit in the activity feed.

If you're using the HubSpot mobile app, you can view your activity feed and send tracked emails from the activity tab. To access the activity feed:

  • Tap Menu, then tap Activity Feed in the left sidebar.
  • Swipe right or left on your screen, or tap the activity tabs at the top, to navigate between activity types.
  • To view all of a contact's email opens and recent activities, tap [X] open(s)/sent/+ other activity.
